Themed Semester

Food for Thought

The Obermann Center was a major partner in the inaugural University of Iowa theme semester, “Food for Thought,” a cross-campus project anchored by the Provost’s Office of Outreach and Engagement. The initiative was headed by Doris Witt, English (CLAS).

In the fall, we hosted a half-day symposium for University of Iowa graduate students to share their food-related scholarship.

During spring semester, award-winning memoirist and cookbook author Andrew Pham visited campus. He discussed  bridging cultures, travel writing, and his most recent book, and also attended Prairie Lights and Writers’ Workshop events.
