Special Guests

In addition to sharing exciting ways that artists and scholars are working with their communities in the U.S. and Europe, Shannon Jackson led bridge-building conversations with leaders in the arts across our campus and the Iowa City community. Just after her visit with faculty, students, and artists in Iowa City, Jackson, the Cyrus and Michele Hadidi Chair in the Humanities, was named the first-ever associate vice chancellor of arts and design at the University of California–Berkeley. The award-winning author of numerous books, including Social Works: Performing Art, Supporting Publics (Routledge, 2011), Jackson has won the respect of performers and scholars alike through her innovative collaborative projects.
