Andrew W. Mellon Sawyer Seminar
The 2019–20 Mellon Sawyer Seminar, Imagining Latinidades: Articulations of National Belonging, was funded by a major grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and supported by the Obermann Center.
Humanities for the Public Good
This four-year, $1,341,000 grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation supports the Obermann Center’s creation of a cross-disciplinary PhD program in the Graduate College for students seeking to translate the values, methods, and content of advanced studies in the humanities into careers that serve the public good. The initiative is a collaboration between the Obermann Center, the UI Graduate College, and the UI College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.
Humanities Without Walls
We are proud to belong to this 16-member consortium of universities, which fosters collaborative research and explores the contributions of humanities in the workplace. The initiative is based at the Humanities Research Institute at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Laura Spelman Rockefeller Grants
In the spirit of Laura Spelman Rockefeller’s commitments, the Obermann Center uses these funds to support artists, scholars, and researchers whose work focuses on the well-being and education of children and families.
