In our second workshop, we cover Versions and Versioning with Juxta.

Scholarly editions have witnessed a radical transformation in the digital age. Whereas traditional “versioning”–the comparison of multiple versions of a text–relied on the limitations of the print format, digital editions allow more fluid and nimble presentation of
the transformation of a text over time. We will discuss the benefits and drawbacks of such digital versioning considering a project of the instructor as a case study. In the workshop, we will create a “version” of Virginia Woolf’s short story “The Mark on the Wall” from primary documents provided in advance. You will learn the basics of versioning using the Juxta Commons platform, and we will discuss the pedagogical uses of such software for student projects.
