Technology Grants
Digital Bridges Technology Grants usually originate from participation in Summer Institutes, Summer Collaborative Grants, or other Digital Bridges activities. They support Grinnell and UI faculty and their collaborators (who may include lecturers or graduate students) who are ready to move from concept to practice in initiating digital projects or are ready to scale individual projects into cross-institutional collaborations.
Objective: Often these are “proof of concept” beginnings (or new stages of a project) that then enable the project leaders to apply for external grants. A critical component of these grants is an initial consultation among the faculty members, the Digital Bridges leadership team, and other stakeholders (including ITS staff and library staff at either or both institutions) to determine the feasibility of the project and which existing resources and expertise can be harnessed to help the faculty team.
Note: The University of Iowa’s Digital Scholarship & Publishing Studio also offers its own grants to support digital projects led by UI faculty members (and collaborative teams). The Studio welcomes faculty and graduate students to apply separately for their funding. For more information, contact Professor Judith Pascoe, Studio Senior Scholar, or Tom Keegan, Head of the Studio.
